A twenty-mile dual guide way monorail system connecting port and rail transfer and container handling systems at its port and inland rail yard ends is specifically designed for the transport of containerized cargo from the Port of Long Beach to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad yard in the City of Commerce. Not intended to carry passengers, the cargo monorail system does not directly connect to the remainder of the proposed California monorail system, or to the proposed passenger monorail system that runs along the opposite bank of the Los Angeles River.
